January 31, 2013After mid-major schools were heavily involved in his recruitment, RJ Curington waited out the process until the middle of the winter. From there, his recruitment became warmer and warmer.
RJ Curington's recruitment shot up in the final phases.
On Thursday night, the class of 2013 6-foot-5 wing from Oak Hill (VA), by way of Indiana, called it quits. He had come to a decision, and a big one at that.
Curington verbally committed to the DePaul Blue Demons over Texas, Michigan State, St. Louis, Western Kentucky, Virginia Tech, UNC-Wilmington, Georgia and others.
As the three-star prospect had spent some visits on high-major schools, his relationship with current DePaul commit Billy Garrett Jr. and his father, his lead recruiter, made him feel comfortable with everything.
"I chose DePaul because it is close to home," he told Rivals.com. "What we are planning to do in the future is big and I want to be a part of it."
Always modest, Curington brings an old school approach to his game in all aspects. A good all-around player with versatility, he will bring a lot to the table in the coming years.
He joins Garrett in the class of 2013, as well as Greg Sequele and Forrest Robinson as members of Oliver Purnell's incoming class.
