September 10, 2008 Men's college basketball is right around the corner, and every year the biggest mysteries are the freshmen newcomers on your favorite team. With that being said, The Demons Den is putting out our second annual College Basketball Freshmen Fantasy Draft game, where you, the fan, play recruiter, picking five freshmen at each position to come up with the best possible team, competing against other fans.THE RULES The rules are fairly simple... First, you have only 150 players to choose from, which are from the Rivals Top 150 for the Class of 2008. The link to that list is shown below. Second, you must choose a player from each position: point guard, shooting guard, small forward, power forward, and center. The player you choose at that position must be the same position that Rivals.com states for that player. You cannot play a power forward at a center, or shooting guard at the point. Third, you can only choose one player from each tier: Tier 1: Ranking 1 - 25 Tier 2: Ranking 26 - 50 Tier 3: Ranking 51 - 75 Tier 4: Ranking 76 - 100 Tier 5: Ranking 100 - 150 You cannot choose more than one player from each tier. If so, your team will not be accepted. Teams must be in by the night of Midnight Madness. No other teams will be allowed to enter after this! Fourth, no team can be alike. If someone chose a team before you, you cannot pick the same players...so the sooner you recruit your team, the more likely you get to pick the player combo you want. Lastly, all teams must be approved by an administrator of The Demons Den. Once approved, you cannot choose another team. SCORING Scoring is going to be done by taking the sum of points, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks. These will be done by the player's averages, and not totals. The final scoring will be done after the college basketball season, which is the first week of April after the National Championship. PRIZES The prizes will be the same as last year, where First Prize gets a 1-year free membership, Second Prize, gets a 6-month free membership, and Third Prize gets a 3-month free membership. Also, EVERYONE IS ELIGIBLE TO PLAY...you don't need to be a Premium Member, or even a DePaul fan. Anyone from any board can play, and I do stress this. Last year our big winner was Team Poneman getting first place, Team Big Kid with second, and Team Netherbornkid in third. Get your teams in, and good luck to all!
