While DePaul took a step backwards last year, Northwestern managed to resurrect its program. Finishing 17-14 and a respectable 8-10 in the Big Ten, the Wildcats made their way to post-season play for the first time in ten years. Wins over Minnesota, Michigan St., and Ohio St at home as well as road victories against Michigan St and Purdue have NU on the right track.

Junior guard Jeremy Nash was an integral part of Northwestern's success. Jeremy is a Chicago native who attended Marist High School on Chicago's South Side. Playing in all 31 games and averaging nearly 20 minutes per game, Nash was an excellent defender that could score when called upon. So what did Nash think of the 'Cats 08-09 campaign? The Demons Den had a chance to find out.

What was the last season like for the team?
Last season was a big year for us especially after coming off a 1-17 conference record and an 8-22 overall record. (Might sound familiar Demon fans). That season showed us that if we put in the time and bought in to the system at Northwestern we could do a lot of things.

What do you see in the future for NU?
Last season showed us that if we put in the time and bought in to the system at Northwestern we could do a lot of things. Even though we lost a couple close games in the beginning of big ten (NU lost by four at Penn State and by two against Purdue, getting off to a rocky 0-4 start) that kept us from making the tourney for the first time in NU history, I definitely think it was another year to build off of. We know we were only a few notches away from being the team we want to be. To keep things moving in the right direction our team is going to have put in that extra time during the off-season.

What's it like playing DePaul and other Chicago area teams?
Getting to play DePaul and other Chicago teams is huge because of the rivalries you get to be a part of. It is always a great and fun atmosphere to play in.

What is it like playing at NU and in/near Chicago?
Playing at and in Chicago is the best thing that could have happened to me. My family is able to make it to all the games and that was a big thing for me. Getting to play in the big ten and attend one of the top academic schools in the country I truly could not ask for more.

What do you see from Chicago college b-ball teams in the future?
I believe that Chicago College b-ball teams are putting themselves back on the map and that other states are going to have trouble playing Chicago teams in the future. They are becoming dominant again.

Northwestern has some nice recruits coming in 2009 that could compliment the team nicely. Shooting guards Drew Crawford and Alex Marcotullio should fit into the Princeton offense with ease. With some slight improvements and a few more wins, Nash and the Wildcats may be dancing next year. DePaul fans better be ready for another fight against NU.
