Chicago guard pledges for hometown team

Make no mistake, although he is a son of a DePaul assistant coach, Billy Garrett Jr is a Big East level recruit, as he is among the top players in the state of Illinois for 2013, and the six-foot-four guard made the decision last night to stay home in Chicago and play for his father and the DePaul Blue Demons.
The Morgan Park guard received an offer from the Big East school this past fall, and proceeded to average fifteen points in his sophomore season. Over the past month, Florida State, Stanford and UNLV have all extended an offer, with interest coming from Pittsburgh and Illinois.
Garrett Jr. is the Blue Demons first commitment for the 2013 class.
